KSM Consulting of Indianapolis, IN, the awardee of the contract, will design a prototype that will incorporate artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques on data resolution issues and develop predictive analysis. This will enable the determination of the supply chain risk for a wide range of microelectronic components. “We are excited to be working with the Navy to enhance their efforts to broaden data-driven decision making,” said John Roach, Chief Revenue Officer of KSM Consulting. “Sophisticated data science methodologies continue to prove their worth supporting meaningful innovation for the government. We hope this custom tool will assist the Navy in making critical decisions that protect the nation’s microelectronic supply chain.” To achieve the objective, KSM Consulting will be required to develop novel and unique methods that include identifying sources of data for ingestion, tool design and development, identifying and establishing risk categories, and determining statistical factors and data that aid in risk determination. The prototype was the first prototype project solicited through the Strategic & Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems (S2MARTS) other transaction authority (OTA) vehicle, managed by the Raleigh, NC- -based National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL). OTA’s were created to give the Department of Defense (DoD) the flexibility necessary to adopt and incorporate business practices that reflect commercial industry standards and best practices into DoD award instruments. Under the terms of the agreement, KSM Consulting is expected to provide its deliverables by 2020. NSTXL offers a unique and simplified approach for companies that have technologies they want the Navy to consider. NSTXL helps to rapidly transition technologies from innovators to the U.S. military, ranging from individual warfighter gear to large-scale defense systems. “It’s our job to get technologies, such as these, from the concept stage to the Warfighters as quickly as possible,” said Tim Greeff, the CEO of NSTXL. “By using Other Transaction Authority, we are able to work with innovative companies, such as KSM Consulting to jumpstart the prototyping procurement process and provide solutions in an efficient and streamline manner.” About NSTXL– The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) is a non-profit based in Raleigh, N.C..
