Tips and Tools for Secure, Productive, and Collaborative Remote Work

Many have transitioned to remote work and are trying to support their teams in a different environment, just as KSMC is. Online, we’ve seen much support from experts sharing knowledge and resources, as we all work in new ways together. To save you a little online sifting time and to support your team in working securely, productively, and collaboratively, we are sharing some of the most helpful information our team and clients have found.

Cybersecurity
With employees working in manners that aren’t necessarily comfortable to them, we have seen an increase in cyberattacks across the board. In general, make sure that your employees are aware of the increased risk and are being diligent to respond and share information only with sources and requests that make sense to them. Specifically, we recommend that employees:

  • Use VPNs as necessary.
  • Avoid emails with outside links. There is a rise in news-related phishing and known malware exploits.
  • Keep work data on work resources/computers; try not to use a personal computer for work activity simply because you are at home.
  • Use caution when connecting to open networks – use personal hotspot and known secure networks.

Remote Work
Cloud environments have made it easier to rapidly transition to a remote workforce. However, that doesn’t mean that we all know how to navigate these environments. Luckily, there are many resources to better understand how to work remotely, well.

Training for Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is an excellent tool for virtual collaboration and support. With built-in video conferencing and screen sharing, focused chat functionality, and an easy interface, our teams are finding new ways to build connection and support clients within it every day.
