KSMC Employees Lend a Helping Hand

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow (okay, it was really just a cold, steady rain) could keep KSM Consulting employees away from 2018 Community Day. Although we had to adjust some of our plans for the weather, we still came out en masse to assist our client, The Villages, with some much needed manual labor. From painting to mulching, our employees rolled up their sleeves and got to work for Indiana’s largest not-for-profit child and family services agency.

When thinking about launching our first KSM Consulting Community Day, Stephanie Meyer and Kate Gerber, project leads, knew that collaborative planning was the way to ensure the success of the day. Employees were surveyed to understand how they wanted to serve the community and the summer interns tackled the planning of the day to ensure maximum benefit to the recipient organization with great employee engagement. The team worked with The Villages of Indiana, a KSMC client, to plan a meaningful day for the organization and employees. The stated goal was for over half of the employees to participate and to make a significant impact on the organization – and by these measures, the day was a success.

Serving over 1,400 children and families every day, The Villages of Indiana offers a variety of programs and services, including foster care, adoption, family services, and transition to adulthood. They also work with Prevent Child Abuse Indiana (PCAI) and Dads, Inc. to ensure Indiana children safe and well-cared for. With so much on The Villages plate, KSMC was honored to offer a helping hand.

Says KSMC’s Stephanie Meyer, “Working with The Villages seemed like the perfect choice. We were happy to help an organization that is not only a client, but one that does so much important work for Indiana kids.”

Matt King, KSMC Senior Data Consultant and Community Day Team Lead, had this to say about his Community Day experience: “Despite the weather, we still accomplished a lot. It was great seeing KSMC values coming through outside the office. Weather stinks? No big deal, we’ll get the job done. Need to rebuild something without any plans? Right on, let’s figure it out and get to work. Finish early? Okay, let’s see who else needs help.”

Matt’s team worked outside repairing fencing and gates while other teams laid mulch and cleaned up landscaping. Inside, KSMC employees painted, organized, and cleaned.

It was a win-win situation for everyone. Rain and all.
